The Marathon Game Jam comes to an end.


The end of the MarathonGameJam is near. I've updated the build, I'm a litttle frustrated with how things worked out in the end but I did make some progress so it's ok.

- Key/Lock Components: I did achieve my goal of creating a system that would allow me to script together missions or quests without having to hardcode stuff into the level blueprint and I'm really happy with the result. I works in such a way that I can simply go to an actor with a lock component and link it to any actor in the level with a key component, this will cause the lock to get notified when the key is completed by the player. Also after implementing that I implemented a "Unlock Events List" this was an array of Dlg Event Structs, which let's me use the same events that I had already created for the dialogue system in the lock component. This events are controlling the lights in the level and the FadeOut at the end.

- Build Full Level: In theory I did get to build a full level but I'm really unhappy with the way that it came out at the end, I worked on this level for a week and had added props and reflection captures all around. When I was packaging this level I got a weird error, in my atttemps to debug it and having forgot to commit my changes to the level I ended up losing all the progress and had to start from scratch last night. Having known how I wanted the map to look allowed me to quickly piece something together, but it's nowhere near up to the standards that I would like to hold myself up to. I considered not submitting anything but in the end did it anyways hoping to get feedback on the other stuff as well.
